Delivery & aftercare
Your snap-on denture is delivered with retentive adjustment as the O-rings bed in. O-rings are replaced periodically; Chris handles ongoing maintenance.
Implant Overdentures — your questions answered
How many implants do I need?
For a lower overdenture, two implants can dramatically improve stability. For maximum chewing power, four implants and a bar attachment are ideal. Upper overdentures usually need four or more due to softer bone. Chris advises at your consultation after reviewing your case.
Is it painful to place implants?
Implant placement is a minor surgical procedure done under local anaesthetic (or sedation if preferred). Most patients report it's far easier than the tooth extraction that came before it. We plan the prosthetic side so the whole journey is coordinated.
Can you retrofit my existing denture to implants?
Often, yes — if your current denture is in good condition and fits reasonably. We can add locator housings to your existing plate, which is a more affordable way to benefit from implant retention without a brand-new denture.
How long do the attachments last?
The locator O-rings wear over 12–24 months and are a quick, inexpensive chairside replacement. The implants and metal attachments themselves last decades with proper care.
