How long do full dentures last?
A well-made full denture typically lasts 5–8 years before it needs reline or replacement, as your gums and jawbone naturally change shape over time. With regular relines, you can extend the comfortable life of your denture significantly.
Will I need denture adhesive?
A correctly fitted full denture — especially the upper — relies on suction and should not require adhesive. If you find yourself reaching for the glue every day, that's a sign the fit has changed and a reline or replacement is overdue.
How long does it take to get used to new full dentures?
Most patients adapt within 2–4 weeks. Starting with softer foods, chewing evenly on both sides and wearing the denture consistently helps your tongue and cheek muscles learn to hold it in place.
Can I get immediate dentures after extractions?
Yes. Immediate dentures can be fabricated in advance and fitted the same day your teeth are removed, so you never go without teeth. A reline is usually needed several months later once the gums have healed and settled.
